Watch the Tappanzee Bridge Construction From Viewpoint Nyack
Another update on the Tappan Zee Bridge….and public suggestion opportunity…..
With bridge construction just around the corner, wouldn’t it be great if residents of and visitors to Rockland County could be able to go to a viewing point in Nyack or Piermont , along the Hudson riverfront, and observe its progress. Practically speaking, most riverfront property in Rockland is still privately owned which makes living along the Hudson River appealing. Property values remain high, even after Frankenstorm Sandy. However, because there are not many public areas along the river in Rockland County, construction of a viewpoint site is an issue. It even appears that those in the privately owned Co-op complex of Salisbury Point already have problems with passersby and cyclists who can’t wait to go to Bunbury’s Coffee shop in Piermont to relieve themselves! (Please, folks, have respect for the residents of private property.)
Tarrytown is already on top of this with leaders coming up with creative ideas that will not only provide residents with a place to view the raising of the bridge, but also to educate them on the process. To their advantage, Tarrytown has several areas of public waterfront at their disposal. Leaders in Nyack have creative ideas and residents are making suggestions, such as possibly creating a viewpoint in Memorial Park, but as of this morning’s Journal News article, there are not definite plans. This may be the time to make suggestions, residents.
Either way, the new Tappan Zee Bridge is coming and we are all curious to watch it go up.
